• The Elk City First Baptist Church currently has one opening in the one-year-old class Wee School program. The class meets from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Children are placed according to their age on Sept. 1, 2009. For information, call Katy, 580-225-7951 (voice mail at church). • The American Red Cross will be holding CPR/First Aid classes at 9 a.m. on March 6. Scholarships are available for local military and their immediate family members. For information, call 580-225-2156. • The Elk City United Methodist Church is hosting Engaging Your Community in Ministry a seminar focusing on how churches can move out into the community in ministry. Dr. Robert Martin of the Saint Paul School of Theology will present the seminar from 2-5 p.m. on March 14. The community is cordially invited to join us for this informative session. Cost is $15. The church is located to 720 West Country Club in Elk City. • Western Oklahoma State College, Elk City campus, now has the 2010 application packets for the RN nursing program available. All necessary paper work for enrollment is included in the packet. Stop by 1301 S. Main, Elk City, to pick up a packet. • The second annual Life Walk for the Heart to Heart Pregnancy Clinic in Elk City will be held April 24. Registration packets and information are available from Karen Ramber, 580-243-2229, or Deidre O'Briant, 580-729-4953. • Rural Washita County resident Danny Kilhoffer, an employee at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, is being honored with a benefit concert at 7 p.m. on March 6 at the Elk City United Methodist Church. Everyone is invited to attend the concert, which will help defray medical expenses. • A fund has been set up at the First National Bank in Elk City for Todd and Mindy Goodall of Elk City, who lost their 20-month-old daughter, Mykenzie, on Friday, Jan. 29.
