Officers were called early last Thursday morning to a report of a young woman lying beside the road. Passing motorists thought the woman could possibly be the victim of a hit-and-run.
Officers went to the location and found Trinity Maria Anderson, 23, lying on the shoulder of the highway next to a blanket, a backpack and some other items.
Officers report that the woman appeared to be very intoxicated, and they placed her under arrest on a complaint of public intoxication.
When booking the woman in, officers found four check books not in her name. They also found a large amount of jewelry, photographs, receipts, the title to a 1998 Caddilac in someone else's name, and a bottle of prescription pills for a dog, also in someone else's name.
Later that day, two people came to the police department and reported that their vehicles had been burglarized. The items missing, police reported, matched the items that Anderson had in her possession at the time of her arrest.
Police report that Anderson told them she found all the property on the side of the road.
In addition to the public intoxication complaint against Anderson, police filed two more complaints; possession of stolen property and burglary in the second degree.
