A woman who was found dead in Elk City Lake Monday afternoon has been identified.
Police identified Angel Love Gilbreath, 27, of Elk City, as the victim whose body was found floating on the southwest side of Elk City Lake shortly after 4 p.m. Monday.
A wedding ring and a tattoo, along with an OSBI agent's reconstructive drawing were all police had to go on in the early going of the case. That drawing spurred numerous calls to law enforcement officials hoping to help identify the woman, but OSBI officials eventually made the identification using fingerprints.
Fishermen at the lake Monday found Gilbreath's partially clothed body floating just a few feet from shore and they called police.
Gilbreath, according to the state Medical Examiner's office, died from multiple stab wounds. Police have said that she appeared to have been in the water for several hours before she was found.
Police have collected evidence at the scene and have also secured a search warrant for Gilbreath's residence. Officials are also looking for evidence in a vehicle that Gilbreath was believed to have recently been in.
No arrests have been made, but police are reportedly talking to someone they have called a person of interest. That person has not yet been named.
Police, Wednesday night, said they felt they had identified Gilbreath positively, but were waiting for her mother to arrive from Dennison, Texas to make identification before they released the young woman's name.
