One man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 4:07 a.m. on Feb. 2 on State Highway 33, three miles west of U.S. Highway 283 in Roger Mills County.
According to the report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a construction vehicle, driven by David Purgason, 37, of Shattuck, and a 1995 Plymouth, driven by Barry Lucas, 52, of Durham, were both traveling westbound on S.H. 33 when Lucas' vehicle struck the construction vehicle in the rear.
According to the report, the accident occurred during foggy conditions and Lucas did not see the flashing or operating lights on the construction vehicle.
Lucas was transported to Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City with arm and leg injuries and was listed in stable condition. Purgason refused medical treatment at the scene.
The report stated the cause of the accident as unsafe speed for traffic conditions. The report also stated that the roadway was wet. |
